PASTORAL CARE & OUTREACH

Pastoral Care Visitor: Visit the ill, homebound, and nursing home residents of the congregation on a regular basis to provide companionship and connection to our church. Coordinated by Louella Hunter (740-362-5712) and training required.

Pastoral Care Crisis Visitation: Visit families dealing with death or emergencies to offer support and comfort. Coordinated by Kathleen Mergler (740-363-4979) and training required.

Pastoral Care Transportation: Assist the homebound or nursing home residents by driving them to Dr. appointments or church. Coordinated by Tommie Stranahan (740-363-3652).

Partners in Prayer: Join a group of parishioners who receive a list each month of concerns and prayer requests and commit to praying for these people every day. Members can also join a prayer chain that is called on for urgent prayer needs. Coordinated by Roberta Clark

Shawl Ministry: Gather to knit and crochet hugs for people in need of prayers. The group meets the 2nd Thursday of each month at 7PM in the Library. You bring supplies and the group will teach you the rest. Contact Jacque Kimball (740-363-4555).

E-mail & Telephone Communication Committee: Spread the news of upcoming events at church to the whole congregation in a timely manner. Each person calls 6-8 people as needed. Coordinated by parish Secretary Dianne Hardin via all-parish e-mails(740-369-3175/stpeters45@verizon.net) & Emily Ross (740-965-6145)

Kairos Prison Ministry: Support and worship with prisoners during weekend retreats. Or help by baking cookies. Contact Judy Held (740-369-4931).

Andrews House: There are a variety of ways to support and get involved with the work of Andrews House. If you are interested contact Milt Wyman (740-881-5600), our partner church representative, who will get you more information.

Marriage Encounter: We are actively working to bring the Episcopal expression of Marriage Encounter to central Ohio. The next weekend in scheduled for May of 2008, and there is a Protestant Spiral for already encountered couples meeting regularly. Contact Larry and Patti Cooper (740-369-0832).

SUNDAY WORSHIP

Eucharistic Visitor: Following the service, take communion to a parish member who is ill or homebound. Diocesan training required. See Judy Held (740-369-4931).

Lay Reader or Lay Eucharistic Minister: Read the lessons, lead the Psalm and prayers. Assist with communion and serve the cup of wine. Training required. See Tom Johnstone (740-524-2561) or Fr. Charles

Usher & Greeter: Welcome people as they enter the church, hand out bulletins, assist with hearing equipment, take collection and bring forth elements. Needed for either 8 or 10:30 services. See Fr. Charles for training.

Nametag Team: Greet people as the come to worship & assist them in finding their nametag. Ensure all in attendance place their nametag in a basket at the end of the service, not back in the rack. After services collect all the tags from baskets, tally attendance, and replace tags in the rack. See Emily Ross (740-965-6145) or Larry Cooper (740-369-0832).

Acolyte: For anyone age 10 through adults. Lead processionals and assist with the service with cross bearer, torches, server and thurifer. Assist at communion. Training required, see Linda Heid (740-548-6908).

Altar Guild: Teams prepare flowers and altar for Sunday mornings and special services. Care of linens and tableware. Training required. Monthly commitment, see Katie Cochran (740-363-8612).

Choir: sings traditional anthem & leads hymns during the second service under the direction and accompaniment of Carol Hallenbeck (740-201-3317). Rehearse Wednesday evenings at 7:30, Sunday mornings at 9:30 and sing most Sundays

MEALS & HOSPITALITY

Dining Room: Free meal served the last Friday of the month in the Undercroft. Contact Helen Andersson (740-369-0215), Louella Hunter or Dick Cooper to participate.

  • Table set up: Families or teams of four take turns setting up tables, chairs and place settings the afternoon before the meal.
  • Meal preparation: Help in the kitchen with cooking the meal that day.
  • Meal serving & clean up: Serve meals to guests family style, package food for carry-outs, deliver meals & help clean after.
  • Meal Delivery

Fellowship: help by providing baked goods and treats for events, or by setting up, serving food, and cleaning up during and after events. Contact Gail Skatzes (740-363-0595)

Pastoral Care Food Team: Provide meals to families in crisis or dealing with illness. Meet several times a year for food cook-ups to freeze meals ahead. Commitment on an as needed basis. Contact Louella Hunter (740-362-5712) if you can provide meals.

Coffee Hour: After 8:00 in the library (see Bonnie Rogers) and 10:30 in the undercroft (See Robyn Hardin or Gail Skatzes). Provide goodies, help set up and clean up. Sign-up for specific dates at coffee hour, or bring donations any time labeled for coffee hour.

PIN Bread Pick-up: Get day old bread and post sale date baked goods from Kroger and transport to People In Need during the week by noon. Also take food collected during Sunday services to PIN. See Dick Cooper.

YOUTH MINISTRIES

Sunday School Teacher: Classes for ages pre-k thru post-confirmation, Sunday mornings from 9:30-10:30 working under Christian Formation Director Linda Heid (740-548-6908). Can teach in teams or rotations.

Saint Peter’s Youth (SPY) leader: Work with our youth groups for those in grades 3-12 that meets the twice a month, alternating between fun and service activities. Contact Emily Ross (740-965-6145).

Children’s Church: Sunday morning service for young children meets in the chapel at 10:30 until the Peace. Curriculum provided, volunteers needed. See Linda Heid.
