Outreach at St. Peter's Episcopal Church
Reaching out ...

Pastoral Care Visitor: Visit the ill, homebound, and nursing home residents of the congregation on a regular basis to provide companionship and connection to our church. Coordinated by Louella Hunter (740-362-5712) and training required.

Pastoral Care Crisis Visitation: Visit families dealing with death or emergencies to offer support and comfort. Coordinated by Kathleen Mergler (740-363-4979) and training required.

Pastoral Care Transportation: Assist the homebound or nursing home residents by driving them to Dr. appointments or church. Coordinated by Tommie Stranahan (740-363-3652).

Partners in Prayer: Join a group of parishioners who receive a list each month of concerns and prayer requests and commit to praying for these people every day. Members can also join a prayer chain that is called on for urgent prayer needs. Coordinated by Roberta Clark

Shawl Ministry: Gather to knit and crochet hugs for people in need of prayers. The group meets the 2nd Thursday of each month at 7PM in the Library. You bring supplies and the group will teach you the rest. Contact Jacque Kimball (740-363-4555).

E-mail & Telephone Communication Committee: Spread the news of upcoming events at church to the whole congregation in a timely manner. Each person calls 6-8 people as needed. Coordinated by parish Secretary Dianne Hardin via all-parish e-mails(740-369-3175/stpeters45@verizon.net) & Emily Ross (740-965-6145)

Kairos Prison Ministry: Support and worship with prisoners during weekend retreats. Or help by baking cookies. Contact Judy Held (740-369-4931).

Andrews House: There are a variety of ways to support and get involved with the work of Andrews House. If you are interested contact Milt Wyman (740-881-5600), our partner church representative, who will get you more information.

Dining Room: Free meal served the last Friday of the month in the Undercroft. Contact Helen Andersson (740-369-0215), Louella Hunter or Dick Cooper to participate.

  • Table set up: Families or teams of four take turns setting up tables, chairs and place settings the afternoon before the meal.
  • Meal preparation: Help in the kitchen with cooking the meal that day.
  • Meal serving & clean up: Serve meals to guests family style, package food for carry-outs, deliver meals & help clean after.
